Patrol Cooking

1. Objective:

Present a method of expedient troop meal preparation, execution and cleanup

2. Discovery:

How long does it take your troop to cook and clean up meals?  Is it fun, or a tedious distraction?

What would happen to you if one of your teachers gave you a big homework project, with no direction how to do it?

We will learn a process to prepare meals in a timely fashion, while eating well. This process should be tailored to the capabilities of each group.

3. Teaching/Learning:

Be Prepared:  Planning - preparation – execution

Use of Leadership Skills.

Needs and Characteristics  - consider needs and abilities of each group.  How can they be accommodated?

Enable your Scouts to succeed – don’t put up obstacles and barriers that impede success. (Don’t require unrealistic skills)

Offer challenges and goals that encourage growth, but make sure they are:  Attainable, specific, measurable, realistic, …

Why are good meals important?

A well fed group is a happy group.

What is a good meal?

Provides energy to have fun and enjoy activities

Provides a break, rest, companionship

Psychological boost and rejuvenation.
